When anger builds, having a go-to list of coping strategies makes it easier to respond rather than react. These skill cards offer simple, evidence-based techniques that children and adolescents can use right away.
Belly Breathing
Take 10 slow breaths, making your belly rise and fall like a balloon.
Move Your Body
Do 30 jumping jacks, run in place, or dance to release tension.
Draw Your Feelings
Use colors and shapes to put what you feel on paper.
Count Backward
Slowly count backward from 50 to 1, focusing on each number.
Walk Away
Leave the situation for a few minutes to cool down safely.
Talk It Out
Tell a trusted person what happened and how you feel.
Squeeze Something
Press a stress ball or pillow tightly, then slowly let go.
Listen to Music
